Am I weak enough to trust Christ?
No one likes appearing weak. We don’t want people to think we are incapable or inept. We’re supposed to look like we have it all together.
Of course, rarely do we see anybody posting their weak moments on social media. I think it’s human nature that when we actually have a moment of success in life, we feel inclined to share it. We are excited and we want the world to know!
But it’s clear that social media is not reality. Behind the scenes, life is messy.
In Mark 2:17, Jesus tells us: “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
This is truly a relief. In between the moments when I feel like, Wow, I’ve got this, are so many of I can’t seem to get it together! I’ve failed again! This isn’t going the way I hoped. I’m struggling. What good news to know that we don’t have to be perfect. We don’t have to be righteous. This is where our Savior comes in.
God tells Paul when he is struggling, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
The Greek word for power used here, dunamis, refers to divine ability, might, and strength. It is the dunamis by which Jesus performed miracles, the dunamis Christ used to equip the disciples to spread the gospel message, and the same dumanis that raised Christ from the dead.
What a gift we have at our disposal. And how incredible that our weakness enables His power to be made perfect.
I hope I never have it all together. I hope I always feel my weakness. I hope I always recognize my need for Christ, so I can experience His power first hand.

What a great reminder to to trust in our own strength. What a testimony we could provide if we were to all be so encouraged to share our weaknesses in order to reveal His strength. Keep being awesome!
D’oh! First sentence should have read: “What a great reminder not to trust in our own strength.”
