“I therefore, a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” Ephesians 4:1
What is my calling?
“Calling” can be defined as a stirring in our hearts towards a particular action or purpose. Many of us would say we have felt called to our job or profession. Some of us have been called to a certain ministry or a particular duty. Sometimes life’s circumstances define our calling: God gives us children to raise or puts other people in our lives that we are to care for. Or, sometimes He uses affliction and difficulties to shape us and use us for a particular purpose.
As Christians, we have such a high calling! By God’s grace, we have felt the stirring in our hearts to believe in Christ and to follow Him. 1 Corinthians 1:9 tells us that as believers we are called into fellowship with Jesus. I Peter 5:10 tells us God has called us into His eternal glory in Christ. Romans 8:30 assures us that our calling will lead to justification and glorification. What amazing benefits of His calling! Do I even begin to realize and appreciate what an incredible gift it is to be called out of darkness into His glorious light?
Being called to God is a blessing, but living it out on this earth is not necessarily easy. God calls His followers to do hard things. The Bible is full of stories of people called out of their comfort zones to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.
Am I ready to face the call? Am I determined to do everything I can to live in a manner worthy of it? What does that even mean?
Eph 4:2-3 says our call should lead us to walk “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
God, thank you for working in my heart and calling me to You. Help me to always realize what a high and special calling I have been given, and to strive to live a life of humility, patience, love, and peace, in thanks and gratitude for this purpose you have given me.

As always, BEAUTIFUL!! I only pray I am worthy of His calling. And am ready for when He calls!!
Thankful for friends like you who are such an example of faithfulness to the call!
Some days I think I am too much of a troll to live by those words from Ephesians! I tend to be more eager to poke the bear. Keep being awesome!
Haha…I relate! Thanks, Ryan.
